Gathering hundreds of aspiring creators, visual storytellers, and industry professionals at Foro de Intramuros, Sony Philippines hosted Alpha Fest 2026—a dynamic celebration of creativity featuring expert talks, hands-on workshops, and interactive tech showcases. Among those covering the event was Orange Magazine PH, highlighting Sony’s latest milestones in empowering the local creative community.

The festival was officially opened by Sony Philippines President and Managing Director Shuhei Sugihara and Marketing Director Kentaro Imamura, who unveiled the brand’s newest lineup of imaging powerhouses: the Alpha 7R VI, FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS, RX10 V, and the highly anticipated FX5.

Cutting-Edge Gear Takes Center Stage

At the heart of the event was the showcase of Sony’s latest gear designed to cater to modern visual workflows:

  • Sony RX10 V: This fifth-generation super-zoom camera boasts a versatile 24-600mm ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T lens, AI-powered Real-time Recognition AF, blackout-free 30 fps continuous shooting, and 4K 120p video—making it the ultimate all-in-one setup for travel, sports, and wildlife.

  • Sony FX5: The newest addition to the Cinema Line brings high-end production features to a compact body. Powered by a full-frame stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor and the BIONZ XR™ processor, the FX5 offers Open Gate recording, internal 16-bit X-OCN, and up to 4K 240p capabilities.

Masterclasses with Industry Leaders

Throughout the day, participants learned directly from renowned Filipino photographers and filmmakers through interactive, genre-focused masterclasses:

  • Wildlife: Win Magsino shared field-tested techniques for capturing animals in their natural habitats.

  • Weddings & Portraits: Jiggie Alejandrino offered actionable tips for creating emotive wedding portraits.

  • Street Photography: Martin San Diego demonstrated how to find compelling narratives in everyday moments.

  • Landscape: Nicco Valenzuela guided attendees on composition, light, and storytelling in the outdoors.

  • Wedding Videography: Acclaimed director Jason Magbanua broke down cinematic narrative techniques using the new FX5.

  • Cultural Portraits: Master photographer Manny Librodo inspired creators during a live shoot in the Festival Zone with his signature cultural storytelling style.

The stage also hosted special guest sessions. Noel Guevara, National Geographic Explorer and conservation photographer, showcased how he documents marine life using the Alpha 7R VI. Celebrated Thai street photographer Tavepong Pratoomwong led an inspiring session on finding extraordinary details in ordinary scenes, while travel content creator Miki Labarda hosted a “Fast Talk” segment on the growth of the local creator community.

Interactive Experience & Partner Support

Beyond the main stage, attendees had hands-on access to test Sony’s latest cameras and G Master lenses in real-time shooting scenarios. The event was bolstered by partner brand activations—including Nanlite, Hollyland, Epson, H&Y, Fotopro, Keen, Osprey, Sushi Nori, and Royal Cafe—offering gear and services tailored to creative workflows.
