For one unforgettable evening, the Forbes 5-star Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila was transformed into the ultimate epicenter of Japanese beverage culture. On Friday, May 22, 2026, Sake Manila 2026 officially marked its third consecutive year, solidifying its reputation as the premier luxury Japanese beverage and cultural showcase on the Philippine social calendar.
Organized by Philippine Wine Merchants (PWM) and Okada Manila, the highly anticipated event completely sold out its strictly capped capacity of 1,000 to 1,200 guests. By limiting attendance, organizers ensured an exclusive “breathing room” environment where Manila’s discerning crowd could indulge in an all-inclusive, high-end epicurean journey for ₱6,000 a ticket.
An Unprecedented Beverage Portfolio

From 5:00 PM until midnight, aficionados and curious newcomers alike were treated to a staggering selection of over 200 hand-selected premium sakes. The lineup featured rare, small-batch, and limited-edition releases hand-carried directly from Japan—bottles completely unavailable anywhere else in the local retail market. This year’s edition significantly expanded its horizons by debuting several prominent sake labels to the Filipino market, most notably:
• Daishichi
• Nanbubijin
• Suigei
• Koshino Kanbai
True to its evolution into a holistic Japanese beverage experience, the ballroom also hosted more than 40 premier suppliers. Guests looking beyond sake explored top-tier Japanese whiskies, artisanal gins (including Wabi and Mawsim), rich shochu, sweet umeshu, crisp craft beers (such as Coedo), and elegant Japanese wines.
Culinary Artistry & Intentional Pairings

Gastronomy was far from an afterthought; it was a centerpiece. Chef Josef Teuschler, Culinary Director of Okada Manila, alongside his world-class team, engineered a custom, one-night-only epicurean feast. Live stations lined the ballroom, serving up flawless cuts of premium steak, masterfully rolled sushi, light-as-air tempura, and smoky yakitori. Every single dish was meticulously designed to complement specific flavor profiles of the beverage portfolio. Guests were guided through intentional, boundary-pushing pairings, such as matching rich, premium cheeses with robust sakes. The tasting journey spanned a beautiful spectrum of expressions, from effervescent sparkling sakes (like Sorah and Mio) and vibrant, unpasteurized (nama) variations, to deeply comforting premium hot sake.
Immersive Culture and Multi-Sensory Entertainment

What truly sets Sake Manila apart from standard tasting events is the unprecedented level of intimate access it grants. Attendees had the rare privilege of interacting face-to-face with Japan’s most celebrated craft master brewers (Toji). Guests walked away with firsthand insights into the centuries-old heritage, precise rice-polishing levels, and distinct differences between Junmai, Ginjo, and Daiginjo. The evening’s atmosphere masterfully bridged traditional Japanese elegance with Manila’s high-energy lifestyle. The festivities kicked off with a dramatic, high-skill tuna-slicing parade and ceremony, accompanied by the serene, hauntingly beautiful melodies of traditional Japanese instruments. As the night progressed, the cultural reverie transitioned seamlessly into a vibrant celebration, with live DJ sets keeping the energy high until the midnight conclusion.
