Technology today moves at lightning speed, but for many who grew up in the 1990s, the digital age still carries a sense of nostalgia. During the launch event of the new MacBook Neo, the conversation between actresses Angelu De Leon and Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, with model-host Kelly Misa-Fernandez, naturally drifted to memories of a time when life felt slower and more intentional.
“Before parang if you wanted to call a friend landline ’di ba memorize mo yung number tapos if you wanted to go on the internet magda-dialog ka so there’s time for yourself and time to think and time to be bored,” Kelly shared. That memory highlighted how communication in the 90s demanded patience, something that feels rare in today’s always-online world.
Meanwhile, actress-turned-politician Angelu De Leon said she misses the genuine connections made without screens in the 90s.
“Ako, na-mi-miss ko sa ’90s yung bonding sa ’90s; yung walang phone, walang ano, lalabas kayo, maglalaro kayo. Obvious naman na yung music talaga, pag tumugtog, hindi mo pwedeng hindi ka sumayaw,” she said.
Privacy, too, was something they felt had quietly disappeared with the rise of social media. Rica shared that what they missed most was the ability to live without constant documentation.
“Yung privacy na kung ano-ano nagagawa namin tapos walang magpo-post,” the actress said. While modern technology has made everyday life easier and more connected, they admitted that the feeling of being reachable 24/7 can sometimes feel overwhelming. Still, they recognized that today’s innovations bring undeniable benefits, especially for families raising children in a digital-first generation.
That balance between nostalgia and progress made the launch of the MacBook Neo feel particularly timely. Designed as an entry-level Apple laptop, the MacBook Neo is positioned as a practical first computer for students and families. Rica also noted how the device fits naturally into modern learning environments where digital literacy begins early.
“My kids kasi, may mga online class sila, tapos dumadami na rin talaga yung needs ng bata ngayon. Nowadays, it’s really a part of life, and it’s a necessary skill,” the actress said. The laptop’s accessibility stood out as one of its strongest selling points, especially for households exploring their first Mac device.
Affordability, long considered a barrier to Apple ownership, was also addressed in the discussion. Angelu described the MacBook Neo as a gateway product that allows more families to experience Apple technology.
“This is a perfect entry. Neo opens doors doon sa mga, parang dati, window shopping mo lang siya, pero ngayon malapit mo na siyang ma-achieve dahil it’s very affordable and it has all the Mac features na nae-enjoy namin,” she said.
With features such as a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, up to 16 hours of battery life, and Apple’s A18 Pro chip, the device is designed to handle everyday tasks from schoolwork to creative hobbies while remaining budget-friendly.
Kelly, Rica, and Angelu all agreed that the MacBook Neo is also a nostalgic piece, as it reminded them of the earliest MacBook that came in different colors, since the MacBook Neo comes in four colors: Silver, Blush (pink), Citrus (yellow/lime), and Indigo (dark blue).
As the conversation shifted from gadgets to entertainment, excitement grew around another major milestone: the long-awaited T.G.I.S. reunion.
The beloved youth-oriented show defined much of the 90s experience, making its return deeply meaningful to longtime fans. One cast member shared what audiences could expect from the special episode.
“I think everyone’s looking forward to just us being together again. And I feel like kami ganun din nung ginawa namin yon. Syempre maasahan niyo maganda yung storya, maganda yung cinematography, lahat,” Rica teased.
The reunion is set to appear in the Netflix anthology series Paskong Pinoy, scheduled for release on December 3, 2026, promising to reconnect audiences with familiar faces and memories from decades past.
In many ways, the moment captured during the launch event reflected the same theme seen across generations, blending old memories with new technology.
The MacBook Neo is now available at all Digimap stores, and online at digimap.ph, with exclusive launch bundles, trade-in deals, and flexible payment options available for a limited time only.
