The Grand Atrium at Shangri-La Plaza has transformed into a bustling hub of Southeast Asian flavors as the Thai SELECT Festival 2026 officially kicks off. This weekend-long event, orchestrated by the Thai Trade Center in Manila and the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), serves as a curated showcase of Thailand’s premier culinary exports and artistic traditions.
The Gold Standard of Dining
The festival’s primary mission is to introduce Filipinos to the Thai SELECT seal—a prestigious mark of excellence awarded by Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce. This certification ensures that diners are experiencing genuine ingredients and traditional preparation methods.
Six elite, certified establishments are currently headlining the event:
- Benjarong Manila
- Greyhound Café
- Mango Tree
- Moo Baan Krung Thai
- Nara Thai Cuisine
- Thai BBQ Original Restaurant
More Than Just a Meal
While the food is the main attraction, the festival offers a deep dive into the cultural “soul” of Thailand. Opening remarks from Ambassador H.E. Makawadee Sumitmor and Director Sutinee Vathana emphasized that these flavors act as a “culinary bridge,” deepening the bond between the two nations.
Event Highlights Include:
Masterclasses: Renowned chefs are taking the stage for live demonstrations, breaking down the complex balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy.
Edible Art: The Royal Thai Embassy is hosting intricate fruit and vegetable carving sessions, showcasing a centuries-old craft that turns simple produce into ornate sculptures.
The “Sanook” Philosophy: The atmosphere is designed around the Thai concept of sanook—the pursuit of joy—ensuring a lively, hospitable environment for all visitors.
The Thai SELECT Festival 2026 runs from March 28 to 29 at Shangri-La Plaza, inviting everyone to indulge in a culinary journey and discover why authentic Thai cuisine continues to captivate the world.
