Pikoy, the beloved mascot of Palawan Group of Companies, brought energy and excitement to the festival through lively booth interactions

The Palawan Group of Companies joined thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and members of the Filipino community in Hong Kong in celebrating Philippine Independence Day through the “Araw ng Kalayaan, Kagitingan ng mga Bagong Bayani” at Kapangyawan Friendship Festival held at Chater Road, Central, Hong Kong.

The event brought together various Filipino groups, including provincial associations, business organizations, and community organizations, in a vibrant celebration of patriotism, culture, and the enduring contributions of modern-day Filipino heroes working overseas. The festival featured a Philippine flag-raising ceremony, cultural performances, and community activities that honored the courage, sacrifices, and resilience of OFWs while strengthening solidarity among Filipinos abroad.

As one of the event sponsors, the Palawan Group of Companies joined the celebration by bringing its trusted financial services directly to the Filipino community in Hong Kong. Through an interactive booth activation, Palawan Group introduced its Palawan Express Pera Padala and PalawanPay services, showcasing solutions designed to address the financial needs of OFWs and their loved ones back home.

“Our overseas Filipino workers are among the strongest pillars of Filipino families and communities, and we are honored to celebrate with them during this meaningful occasion in Hong Kong. Through Palawan Express Pera Padala and PalawanPay, we hope to make it easier for OFWs and their loved ones to stay connected and supported through accessible and reliable financial services wherever they may be,” remarked Lisa Castro-Sabado, Chief Business Development Officer of the Palawan Group of Companies.

Among the services highlighted during the event was International Remittance Claim via Palawan Express Pera Padala, which allows beneficiaries in the Philippines to conveniently claim international remittances over the counter through Palawan Group’s network of over 6,000 branches and authorized outlets nationwide. Palawan Group also featured International Remittance Claim via PalawanPay, enabling recipients to access remittances digitally anytime, anywhere in the Philippines through the PalawanPay mobile application.

Also introduced during the event was Pera Padala Abroad, Palawan Group’s outbound remittance service that allows families in the Philippines to send money to their OFW loved ones overseas whenever support is needed. Through these services, the company highlighted how it helps make financial support more accessible, reliable, and convenient for Filipino families separated by distance.

Adding excitement to the celebration, Palawan Group brought along its beloved mascot Pikoy, who delighted attendees and created memorable interactions during the booth activities. The brand’s presence at the festival not only strengthened awareness of its remittance and digital financial solutions but also deepened its connection with OFWs by participating in an event that recognized their sacrifices and invaluable contributions.

Through its participation in the festival, the Palawan Group highlighted its mission of empowering Filipino families at every stage of their financial journey—whether by helping them receive support from abroad, claim remittances through over-the-counter and digital channels, or send assistance back to loved ones working overseas. This message is further brought to life through its ongoing “There Na” campaign, which draws from the real stories of overseas Filipino workers—modern-day heroes whose sacrifices continue to inspire and strengthen Filipino families around the world.
