Who would have thought ancient literature would take over pop culture in 2026, with The Odyssey officially storming movie theaters and getting film fans everywhere completely hooked.

And because the source material is so deep and complex, the next thing to do for many moviegoers after walking out the theater is to pull up Google Search and start looking up certain aspects and facets of the classic story. The adventure doesn’t end when the credits roll, indeed.

Ever wondered if the Cyclops was really that terrifying, or wanted a quick refresher on why Poseidon was so angry at Odysseus? Or maybe you wanted to brush up on what started the Trojan War?

You’re not alone. Google Trends shows a massive surge in searches for Greek mythology as film buffs dive deep into Homer’s legendary tale—in the Philippines alone, searches for “The Odyssey” jumped 450% in a week according to Trends data, proving that the interest in the story (and the movie) is real.

From searching character family trees to finding out how true the movie is to the original classic, Google Search has become every moviegoer’s ultimate companion for post-theater debriefs. That’s where you can find all the answers, after all.

Uncover the Secret Google Easter Egg

To make the journey even more exciting, Google even added a hidden surprise for everyone joining the trend.

When you search “The Odyssey” on Google today, keep your eyes open—a special interactive Trojan Horse Easter egg slides across your screen, and clicking it will make Trojan soldiers emerge from it and clear out the different entries on the results page.

It’s a playful nod to one of the big setpieces in the story, and it’s a fun little treat for anyone looking to bring a touch of ancient magic to their daily search routine.

So before you catch your next screening—or right after you debate the movie ending with your friends—head over to Google, type in The Odyssey, and test your myth-busting skills!
