Ligo Sardines is proud to be featured in The Philippines Yearbook, a publication that has been capturing the stories that shape the nation since 1936. This year’s edition highlights brands that have shaped Filipino culture and experiences through the years.

Some brands become part of a nation’s story not through spectacle, but through everyday presence. Ligo Sardines has become one of those enduring names in Filipino households—an accessible, dependable staple that has long been woven into the way Filipinos cook, eat, and care for one another. Its staying power comes not only from familiarity, but from what people continue to value in it: quality they trust, taste they enjoy, and nutritional value they can feel good about serving.

Its recognition in this year’s The Philippines Yearbook is fitting for a brand that has become part of Filipino food culture through consistency and everyday relevance. Ligo is the kind of pantry essential that easily finds its place in daily life—practical yet satisfying, simple yet full of flavor, humble yet meaningful in the role it plays at mealtime.

As this year’s edition celebrates brands that have shaped Filipino culture and experiences, Ligo stands out as one of those quiet fixtures that helped define the everyday Filipino pantry. Its

legacy is not only in how long it has been around, but in how deeply it has become associated with meals that are flavorful, dependable, and nourishing for generations of Filipino families.

The Philippines Yearbook, published annually by The Fookien Times, has chronicled Philippine progress for 89 years. With this inclusion, Ligo Sardines adds another meaningful chapter to its story. First established in 1954 and acquired by Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CPFI) in 2021. The brand recently received the recognition at the Grand Hyatt Manila, where Angela Pecson and Ronald Agoncillo accepted the honor on its behalf.
