Canon recently gathered a dynamic community of digital storytellers, content creators, media partners, and industry directors for the highly anticipated Canon Creator Experience Day. Designed to foster local talent and showcase cutting-edge tools, the event featured the official launch of the Canon Creative Camp and the Canon Campus Tour, reinforcing the brand’s long-term dedication to nurturing the next generation of Filipino visual storytellers.
Discovering New Possibilities in the Creator Ecosystem
The event kicked off with a message from Shinsuke Maeda, Senior Manager of Strategic Communications at Canon Marketing Asia. He highlighted the event’s core mission: building a robust, supportive community where creators at all skill levels can thrive.
“At Canon, we believe everyone has a story worth telling. Whether you’re just starting out or already inspiring thousands of people, Canon is built for any creator of any kind and at any level. Today’s event is all about our content creators’ ecosystem through inspiring talks, hands-on experience with our new products, collaboration, and community activities.”— Shinsuke Maeda, Senior Manager, Canon Marketing Asia
Powerhouse Hybrid Tools: The EOS R6 V Takes Center Stage
For the videographers and content creators in attendance, the biggest highlight of the afternoon was the official introduction of the Canon EOS R6 V (also discussed in some regions alongside the V-series lineup like the PowerShot V10 and EOS R50).
JV Ruanto, Senior Product Manager at Canon Marketing Philippines, walked the audience through the technical powerhouse built into this new body. Specifically designed to address the challenges modern multi-platform creators face, it is packed with high-end features like:
-
7K Open Gate Recording: Utilizes the full 32.5MP, 3:2 sensor ratio, allowing creators to seamlessly export horizontal (16:9), vertical (9:16), or square (1:1) crops from a single file without losing video quality.
-
Highly Steady Footage: 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) that delivers up to 7.5 stops of stabilization at the center.
-
Intelligent Autofocus: Advanced subject tracking and eye-autofocus that locks onto creators, keeping them sharp even during dynamic movements.
-
Overheating Prevention: A built-in internal cooling fan so creators can shoot long-form content uninterrupted.
-
Physical Adjustments: A dedicated zoom lever (for compatible power zoom lenses like the new RF 20-50mm F4 power zoom lens) and a dual vertical-mount layout with a shifting UI for natural portrait-oriented shooting.
“This camera is made and built for creators… Since it’s open gate, you record the full sensor size (3:2) and you can resize it to 16:9, 9:16, and even 1:1 without having any loss on the quality of the camera. One capture, many frames.”— JV Ruanto, Senior Product Manager, Canon Marketing Philippines
Bringing Stories Beyond the Screen: Canon Pixma & MegaTank
The visual journey didn’t end with digital files. Canon also showcased its heavy-duty printing ecosystem, reminding creators that physical execution is just as vital to the creative process.
Cyrus Quesada (introduced as Sus Edward), Senior Product Specialist for the Printer Business, broke down Canon’s massive 38-printer lineup—comprising 16 cartridge-based systems and 22 MegaTank models (Continuous Ink Supply System, or CISS).
To help the audience match a printer to their specific needs, he detailed the differences in their ink technologies:
-
Dye-based Inks: Known for vivid, popping colors, making them the gold standard for photographers (perfectly optimized in specialized models like the Pixma G570 and G670).
-
Pigment Inks: Ideal for crisp text and important documents, utilizing small particles that resist water damage and smudging.
-
Hybrid Ink Systems: Combining both dye and pigment inks, giving standard creators a versatile middle ground for everything from sticker printing to creative mood boards.
“To end this short presentation, I just wanted to quote what Thomas Edison said: ‘Vision without execution is hallucination.’ So don’t hallucinate now, and take a Canon printer in order for you to have a better execution.”— Cyrus Quesada, Senior Product Specialist, Printer Business
An Interactive Experience
Throughout the venue, guests carried “Creator Passports” to explore different experience zones. Attendees completed activities like downloading the Canon Print App and testing out the newly launched cameras in custom-designed sets. Completing the passport allowed creators to claim exclusive Canon merchandise at the close of the program.
With the launch of the Canon Creative Camp and Campus Tour, the Creator Experience Day served as a powerful reminder that Canon is focused on equipping today’s storytellers with the tools they need—both in-camera and in print—to bring their creative visions to life.
