Students from Siena College of Taytay and Notre Dame of Marbel University recently visited the PLDT Innolab, where they got a hands-on look at the technologies powering connectivity across the country. Through the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program or SWEEP, students from engineering, IT, and computer science courses explored how PLDT and Smart deliver fast, secure, and reliable digital services for millions of Filipinos.
Stephanie V. Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Engagement at PLDT and Smart, said the initiative helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world innovation, encouraging students to take part in building a smarter and more connected Philippines.
During the tour, students learned about AI, automation, and next-generation network systems, including the AI-powered AIRA Command Center developed by AIRA Labs. The platform uses AI to analyze data from CCTV cameras and sensors to improve operations and public safety.
Students also experienced SmartSafe Silent Access, PLDT Enterprise’s authentication solution that allows secure mobile verification without using OTPs, making online transactions faster and safer.
Beyond showcasing technology, the visit also highlighted the importance of cybersecurity awareness and STEM education, helping prepare future engineers and innovators to create smarter and more secure digital solutions for the country.
