In celebration of Independence Day, Lucky Chinatown proudly unveils its latest installation, “The Buns of Goodwill,” a vibrant display of 391 red, white, blue, and yellow bao buns meticulously arranged to form the iconic Philippine flag. This innovative artwork, located on the 2nd floor, serves as a symbol of the enduring friendship and cultural exchange between the Filipino and Chinese communities.
Designed in partnership with famed Chinese deli chain Eng Bee Tin, the installation transcends culinary boundaries to celebrate the shared heritage and camaraderie between the two nations. Each bao bun, though traditionally Chinese, takes on new significance as it represents unity and harmony, mirroring the colors of the Philippine flag.

This culinary masterpiece serves as a poignant reminder this Independence Day of our shared heritage, reflecting Lucky Chinatown’s commitment to fostering a bond of goodwill, mutual understanding, and harmony between communities,” shared Lucky Chinatown General Manager Nori Mizoguchi.
The installation will be on display for public viewing until June 30, 2024 at the 2nd floor.
