Having shown their light to the world with debut single [Vanilla] for the first time last June, LIGHTSUM has expressed the sweet moment of falling in love as a special, eye-opening vanilla taste, showing the freshness of Gen Z with a unique style. Besides, LIGHTSUM set a record for the highest initial sales of 19,000 copies among rookie girl groups in 2021, and the music video of their title track ‘Vanilla’ achieved 10 million views in about a week after its release. The title track ranked 8th on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart, proving their power as a ‘2021 Hot Rookie Girl Group’. With their second single [Light a Wish], LIGHTSUM aims to showcase their original powerful performances, stable vocals, and more upgraded, cool, and shining charms.
The second single [Light a Wish] contains the meaning that this album will not only fulfill ‘my’ wishes but also ‘our’ wishes. Following the comeback trailer that depicts the journey of finding ‘Something’ new after they meet in a place guided by the lights, the ‘Light Ver.’ symbolically expresses the new portrait of a ‘21st Century Genie’, deviating from the stereotyped image of Genie in the story of Aladdin, and the ‘Wish Ver.’ conveys in a natural vintage tone the lovely nature of Genie before it awakens in the heart. The concepts of the two versions, the artistic movement drawn by the group choreography perfectly synchronized as if the 8 members have become one, and the colorful and sophisticated music video are the key points to watch for in this album.
The outstanding tracklist is composed of tracks brought together by various forms of ‘light’ being their common theme. The first and title track ‘VIVACE’, named after the Italian word meaning ‘in a lively and brisk manner’, is a track where the house genre and future bass sound harmonize with a dreamlike and magical synthesizer sound.
