The fire and passion of youth can spark and steer various advocacies. To enhance the youth sector’s ability to champion causes, the ASEAN Youth Leaders Association (AYLA) shall stage the 3rd AYLA Advocacy Camp from August 28 to 30 at the Phillip’s Sanctuary in Antipolo, Rizal.
Entitled ASEAN POV: Discover Yourself, Define ASEAN, the three-day camp features talks from top Filipino advocates, including CreatiVoices Productions founder Pocholo Gonzales, United Nations Population Fund Philippines Youth Advisory Chairperson Joey Dela Cruz, and Angat Kabataan ng Taytay President Tobit Cruz. The programme includes workshops, sharing sessions, cultural presentations even an adventure race.
The camp is supported by John Robert Powers Manila, AKTIVshow, Phillip’s Sanctuary, 1 Digimedia Audiovisuals Inc., ClickTheCity.com, Voice of the Youth Radioand WheninManila.com. Other partners include the National Youth Commission, United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth, International Youth Council Pilipinas, International Youth Council Philippines, Children and Youth, Youth, the World Humanitarian Summit, plus the Philippine arm of the World Wide Fund for Nature.
Fifty two delegates from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam are expected to attend.
“Through this camp, we aim to create a strong network of advocates throughout the ASEAN region,” shares AYLA Secretary General Neil Soria. “No nation can act alone. Southeast Asia’s future leaders must learn from each other to develop realistic solutions to the challenges of their home countries, while forging a distinctive ASEAN identity.”
AYLA is a non-profit, non-sectarian, international non-government organization which provides youth leaders fine opportunities to both learn and teach. Its programmes range from youth empowerment to volunteer opportunities and educational camps.
