A police officer in Manila is joining a male beauty pageant this coming September.
Neil Perez a.k.a. Police Officer 2 Mariano Flormata, Jr., is one of the finalist, and probably the crowd favorite, at the Misters of the Philippines 2014 pageant.
The 29-year-old police officer is part of the Aviation Security Group, who respond to unattended bags in the airports for possible bomb threats.
According to Neil Perez, his main purpose in joining the competition was to bust the stereotypes on policemen who are typically out-of-shape.
“I joined the contest to promote healthy lifestyle… to boost the confidence of policemen and to show other people that I can do more aside from being a policeman,” he said, adding that “My priority is to continue my career as a policeman. In the first place, I only joined this to encourage them (police) to live a healthy lifestyle.”
Neil Perez, who admits to have no experience in modeling, will be competing with the other 25 candidates this coming September 7 at the University of Makati’s (UMak) Grand Theater. The four winners will then represent the country in the global competition.
