Ben Russell And The Charmers Release New Single, “Ocean”

Backed by BBC Radio tastemaker David Rodigan, UK-based reggae group Ben Russell And The Charmers have just released their new single and music video for title track ‘Ocean‘, recently premiered by Reggaeville’, off their eponymous upcoming album of the same name.

After touring some of the biggest festivals in the UK (Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair, Secret Garden Party, One Love, Edinburgh Fringe), sharing stages with internationally acclaimed artists such as, ‘Katchafire’, ‘Black Uhuru’s Mykal Rose’, ‘The Dualers’ and joining ‘Groundation’ later this year at O2 Academy Islington, the band have established themselves as a stirring presence in the UK alternative music scene. Recently they supported legendary band The Toasters and continue to cement themselves as a thriving force in British Reggae.

Their latest single ‘Ocean’ is an instant dub-pop classic. A heady mix of pop sensibilities with rolling dub reggae grooves, heart-on-your-sleeve songwriting and shimmering production awash with delay, it is the perfect introduction to the band’s new direction and original take on the reggae genre.

It is a true ode to the natural and mystical, which comes from songwriter Ben Russell’s roots in the surf culture of his native Australia. Ben Russell and The Charmers will hold the launch of their album ‘Ocean’ at The Penny Theatre in Canterbury on 3rd August and will be performing in store and signing CD’s and vinyls at Vinylstore Jr on 4th August.
