Well-known names in tech gave Keynotes that shared insights and projects from their respective IT companies. In the Panel Discussions, the first part was about Best Practices in Software Development with speakers from Voyager Innovations, Titanium Technologies, and Deal Grocer. For the second panel, IT experts gave their advice on how Filipino developers could rediscover more IT opportunities in the country. The panel included IT professionals such as ICTJob.ph’s Chief Innovation Officer, Fred Tshidimba, Paul Pajo from Smart DevNet, Anne Bernardo from Accenture, Katherine Anne Ricafort from Personiv, and Judith Tubil from Yondu. Finding the right candidate for their IT openings is notably one of their struggles.

According to the Job Openings by Skill in the Philippines Tree below, there is an abundance of jobs for Tech Support and PHP, but lesser job posts for languages that are in demand in the IT job market. This illustrates the Filipino developers’ necessity to continuously harness and improve their skills.

Constantly upgrade their skill set and keeping a record of their past developments in github and in an online resume were seen as the key success criterias for candidates to attract the best companies to hire them, may it be locally or internationally.

Together, DevCon and ICTJob.ph continue to engage and empower Filipinos to pursue higher career paths in the IT industry.
