As McDonald’s Philippines marks 45 years of serving Filipinos, the company received three of the highest honors at the 20th Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards. Feed the Mind was named Corporate Program of the Decade, Chairman and Founder Dr. George T. Yang received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Managing Director Margot Torres was recognized as Business Leader of the Decade.
The Decade Awards, introduced for the Tambuli Awards’ 20th anniversary, recognize organizations, programs, and leaders that have made lasting contributions to business and society.
Investing in Education
Feed the Mind was honored for McDonald’s Philippines’ long-standing commitment to education through programs such as the Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit Learning Center, McDonald’s Classroom, Night Classroom, and ReClassified, which support early childhood education, provide study spaces, and donate repurposed furniture to public schools.
Together, McDonald’s and RMHC Philippines have benefited over 13.2 million students, 30,000 teachers, and 14,500 schools nationwide.
Purpose-Driven Leadership
Dr. George T. Yang was recognized for building McDonald’s Philippines into one of the country’s leading quick-service restaurant brands while creating opportunities for Filipinos. Today, the company operates more than 860 stores and employs around 75,000 people, many of whom are working students.
“This award actually should go not to me, but to all the people who are involved in my organization. I continue to believe that business, if done right, can be a force for good,” said Dr. Yang.
Margot Torres earned the Business Leader of the Decade award for leading McDonald’s Philippines’ digital transformation, business growth, and talent development while helping strengthen the brand’s connection with Filipino consumers.
Beyond the top awards, McDonald’s Philippines also received Bronze Awards for Two-Minute Drive-Thru Guarantee, McDo Math, and Lighting the Way for Every Working Student.
“Tambuli now celebrates companies who stay committed to the right values and brand purpose across the entire operations, and that means doing good every day,” Torres said.
