The local komiks scene is buzzing with excitement as the Philippine International Comics Festival (PICOF) officially makes its highly anticipated return from July 10 to 12, 2026, at Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig City.

Gathering Filipino and international creators, publishers, readers, educators, and visual storytelling enthusiasts, this three-day celebration promises to be bigger, bolder, and more accessible than ever. For the very first time, PICOF transitions into an Open Festival, granting everyone FREE ADMISSION to the comics market, exhibits, masterclasses, artist battles, and live drawing events!

Presented in partnership with the Japan Foundation Manila, Larry Alcala 100 Years, Ayala Malls The 30th, Mozaiku Prints, and BLushCon, PICOF 2026 highlights the incredible power of sequential art to connect cultures, communities, and generations of creators.

A Global Comics Market

Attendees can look forward to exploring a vibrant marketplace packed with independent Filipino creators, mainstream publishers, and international exhibitors. This year’s lineup features creative talent and organizations hailing from the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia, paving the way for rich cultural exchanges and strengthening ties across the Asia-Pacific comics community.

This year’s festival boasts three major curated exhibits that celebrate both local heritage and international talent:

  1. The PICOF Official Selection: Showcasing the groundbreaking titles officially published this 2026.

  2. The Larry Alcala Centennial Tribute: Celebrating 100 years of the National Artist for Comics. This special exhibit features his original works, “Slices of a Komikero’s Life,” alongside 100 unique renditions of his iconic character by contemporary independent creators.

  3. Country of Highlight – Japan: In cooperation with Japan Foundation Manila and BLushCon, visitors can experience “Sinta: Queer Stories Across Asia.” This international exhibit brings together creators from Japan and Southeast Asia to explore universal themes of love, identity, and belonging.

Aspiring artists and seasoned readers alike can look forward to a robust schedule of educational programming. PICOF’s masterclasses and panels will feature insights from esteemed local and international industry professionals, including Tori Tadiar (Philippines), Masaomi Ito (Japan), Cat Aquino and Dominique Duran (Philippines), Joshua Chieng (Singapore), and Kristina Turner (Australia).

Beyond classes, the three-day event will be packed with interactive book club talks, exclusive book launches, creator spotlights, thrilling live drawing sessions, and open community conversations.
