There is massive noise on social media right now regarding the official mainstream screening of Dustin Celestino’s “Habang Nilalamon Ng Hydra Ang Kasaysayan” (As History is Devoured by the Hydra), which first premiered in October 2025 at Cinemalaya.
Youth and students are loudly clamoring for more theaters to screen this political drama, which stars Zanjoe Marudo, Mylene Dizon, Jojit Lorenzo, Nanding Josef, and Dolly de Leon.
‘Hydra’ is highly timely, especially now that the country and its citizens are facing numerous challenges, particularly regarding the economic and political state of the Philippines.
‘Hydra’ is daring in its exposure of the realities of socio-cultural and political conflicts, and how these affect the lives and morality of the people.
Teachers aim to have their students watch it so they can freely discuss social issues in school.
But then, how can they actually watch it if it is only being shown in a very limited number of theaters?
