Up-and-coming singer-rapper MAVEN or Dustin Gipala in real life revisits his humble beginnings as an artist as he launches his debut extended play (EP) “Papunta Na Ako.”

“Sinong mag-aakala na yung batang lumaki at patambay-tambay lang sa eskinita ay magiging kauna-unahang hip-hop artist ng Star Music. Dati tanging sarili ko lang ang nakakaalam ng mga ideya at kanta ko pero ngayon sobra-sobra pa yung nangyayari sa hinihiling at pinagdadasal ko noon,” MAVEN reflected in a TikTok post.

The six-track mini album features his original compositions that delves into the tension and sultry side of romance. Its tracks include “Balang Araw,” “Totoo,” “Sumama Ka,” and his previously released singles “Papunta Na Ako,” “Gustong Gusto,” and “Dito Ka Muna,” which were produced by Cursebox and Young JV.

“Balang Araw” serves as the EP’s key track, which speaks about a love confession and the hope of being together with their loved one.

MAVEN made his television debut when he joined the blind auditions of “The Voice Kids” in 2015. He also participated in the first season of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in 2017. Last May, he made his debut as a recording artist with the song “Dito Ka Muna.”

Check out MAVEN’s debut EP “Papunta Na Ako” available on various streaming platforms.
