The “Nation’s Girl Group” is ready to take us on a trip across the archipelago! The Department of Tourism (DOT) has officially appointed P-pop sensation BINI as the country’s newest tourism ambassadors, merging the vibrant energy of local pop culture with the beauty of Philippine travel

.The exciting announcement followed a formal courtesy visit by the eight-member powerhouse to the DOT Central Office, where they received a warm welcome from the newly appointed DOT Secretary, Maria Bernardita “Dita” Angara-Mathay.This strategic partnership taps into BINI’s phenomenal rise and massive influence to champion the DOT’s domestic travel initiatives, inviting Filipinos and international fans alike to explore the country to the beat of P-pop.

The Strategic ‘Soft Power’ of P-Pop

According to DOT Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay, selecting BINI to front the country’s tourism campaigns is a deliberate move to harness the undeniable draw of modern Filipino music.

“Music is very important because when you watch something, you don’t remember only the images, you remember the music behind it, and that’s the feeling we want people to carry with them,” Sec. Angara-Mathay explained.

The tourism chief highlighted that this collaboration is viewed as a sustainable investment in the country’s cultural capital, rather than a fleeting trend.

“This is an investment in the ‘soft power’ of pop culture,” the DOT Chief stated, emphasizing plans for a deeply rooted partnership. “We want a long-term relationship kasi ‘yun ang may impact (because that’s what has an impact). We’re with them for the long haul. That’s what we have in mind and hopefully, the group has the same in mind.“

What makes the group an authentic fit for this national role is the diverse provincial roots of its members—Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena.

“Each girl actually represents a province or a town, and they’re very, very knowledgeable about what is the charming feature of the town,” Angara-Mathay noted. “Each girl member has that to bring to tourism.”

BINI’s Trailblazing Streak

This appointment aligns perfectly with BINI’s current career trajectory, which is operating at an absolute all-time high. The octet continues to break records, proving their cultural impact reaches far beyond streaming platforms:

  • Coachella History Makers: The girls solidified their international presence by becoming the first-ever all-Filipino P-pop act to perform at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, an achievement that earned them formal recognition from the Senate of the Philippines.

  • The Global Anthem Effect: Hit tracks like “Pantropiko,” “Salamin, Salamin,” and their latest era “Cherry on Top” have become the unofficial soundtracks of Philippine summer. Millions of social media users organically use their music to backdrop travel vlogs showcasing the country’s pristine beaches and vibrant cities.

  • Sold-Out Arena Status: The group recently wrapped up two historic, heavily sold-out “Signals World Tour” kickoff concerts at the Mall of Asia Arena. Up next, BINI is slated to headline a massive live concert at the newly opened SM Seaside Cebu Arena before embarking on a highly anticipated 11-city North American tour across the United States and Canada.

“Philippines! You’ll Always Be Our Fave Destination”

Taking to social media, the members of BINI couldn’t hide their enthusiasm about their newest responsibility, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to wave the Philippine flag in an entirely new way.

“Uy, Philippines! You’ll always be our fave destination,” the group shared in an official online post. “Thank you, Department of Tourism – Philippines, for the trust and warm welcome. We’re honored to be the Philippines’ Tourism Ambassadors and can’t wait to celebrate our country’s tropical beauty, culture, and people with all of you!”

Looking ahead, the DOT confirmed it will be providing BINI with extensive platforms to highlight diverse Philippine tourism offerings. Fans can expect to see the group showcasing everything from local food and sports to uncovering the hidden treasures of their respective hometowns.
